Jose "Pepin" Garcia was born in Cuba in 1950 and at the age of 11 he started working in his uncle's cigar factory. He rolls his first cigars there. One can say that Pepin grew up between tobacco plants and cigars. Two years later, he exchanges the factory of his uncle for the Felix Rodriguez Export factory, which, like his uncle's factory in Baez, is located. Here Pepin stays for a long time. He proves to be a very big talent in rolling cigars. He grows up to Master Torceador and also teaches others the subject of roles. Its precision and speed are unprecedented.
He also has a sense of blending of cigars. At age, he is involved in the blend of Cohibas, Montecristos and Partagas'. During the nineties he is responsible for the quality of Cohiba.
In 2001 he left Cuba with his family, and settled in Miami through a stopover in Nicaragua. Here he founded El Rey de los Habanos, Inc, a small cigar factory in Little Havana in 2002. At this company, his son Jaime and his daughter Janny are also involved.
In recent years, the company of Pepin has grown into a big cigar company and in 2006, it even opened a new factory, this time in Nicaragua. In 2009, a new cigar brand called My Father cigars began. A name that his children have devised to honour their father. Outside cigars for proprietary brands like Don Pepin Gharcia, My Father, La Antguedad and Flor de las Antillas, they also make cigars for third parties such as Tatuaje, La Arome del Caribe and Paradiso in My Father's factories.
